NA Vice Chair meets top Japan lawmakers

TOKYO – Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uông Chu Lưu met yesterday with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Tadamori Oshima and held talks with the Vice President of Japan’s House of Councillors Akira Gunji on a visit to Japan.

Meeting with Tadamori Oshima, NA Vice Chairman Lưu spoke highly of the Japanese lower house leader’s visit to Việt Nam last May, saying the trip significantly contributed to strengthening the extensive strategic relations between Việt Nam and Japan.

For his part, Oshima noted the fruitful development of the Việt Nam-Japan relationship, as reflected in the exchange of high-ranking visits since the beginning of this year.

The host said he hoped the friendship between the two countries, as well as the relationship between the Vietnamese NA and Japan’s House of Representatives, would advance further.

During talks with Akira Gunji, the Vietnamese legislator expressed his delight at the fine relationship between Việt Nam and Japan.

Echoing Lưu’s views, Gunji said the bilateral co-operation was thriving in many aspects like the economy, politics and culture. He described the visit to Việt Nam by the Japanese Emperor and Empress in February  二0 一 七 as a symbol of the friendship.

Akira Gunji noted his hope that the Vietnamese legislature and Japan’s House of Councillors will increase their exchanges, especially ahead of the celebration of the  四 五th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties in  二0 一 八.

He praised the NA’s role as the Chair of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) and the country’s hosting of the  二 六th APPF slated for January  二0 一 八. — VNS
